PC Laptop Computers and their Value In the past decade, the change in computer technology is unrivaled.  We have watched all types of technology changes but without doubt, the changes to laptop computers are truly amazing.  Because PC laptop computers are now so affordable, they are found in just about every home on the planet.  Whether using a laptop solely for business purposes, to do homework for school, or to enjoy online gaming, you will be impressed with the options available.  Many people prefer the larger, standard laptop computer but another option is the notebook, which is very lightweight and affordable, making it a more portable solution.

When looking at PC laptop computers, it is exciting to see where technology has gone.  Again, computers today are lighter but they are also loaded with more power and features.  Some of the most popular features that people look for include a built-in keyboard and mouse, web cam, long-lasting batteries, CD/DVD burning drives, wireless technology, and more.

Some people in the home and at work still use desktop computers but having the ability to travel with a laptop certainly makes it the more preferred type of computer system.  PC laptop computers make it possible for people to go on vacation, travel for business, or head off to college with a fully functioning computer.  Because most computers are now designed with wireless technology, the computer would operate while sitting in a hotel room, out by the pool, or in the cafeteria on campus.  You could run programs with the computer plugged in or unplug it and run
applications wireless using battery power.

To show you how much smaller PC laptop computers are today consider that some measure 10x8 inches in size with a 13-inch monitor or the larger size, measuring 15x11 inches with a 17-inch monitor is incredible.  These computers are no thicker than 1.5 inches with some as thin as 0.7 inches.  While the smaller size makes laptop computers lighter and therefore, easier to carry, they do not lack in power and capability.

To protect various components such as the mouse, keyboard, and monitor, PC laptop computers are designed with flip tops that securely open and shut.  With many of the newer laptops now offered on the market weight 12 pounds or less, carrying them in computer bags has never been easier.  Laptop computers from years earlier were much heavier, making them difficult for travel.

The “PC” is an acronym that means “personal computer” due to its portability.  The first PC laptop computers were developed in the early part of 1970.  While this was an incredible technological breakthrough, these computers were very heavy, they had limited features, and the price tag was steep.  Then in 1972, the Dynabook computer was created by a Xerox PARC employee named Alan Kay.  Move ahead to 1982 and the Osborne 1 and Epson HX-20 were introduced.  These were improvements but they were still heavy and expensive.

Today, options for PC laptop computers have never been better.  Computers now being sold are unique, being smaller yet more powerful and loaded with high-tech features.  Batteries are designed to last longer, the monitors are much bigger, and laptops have all kinds of additions.  Instead of paying $6,000 or more for the older, heavier computers that were first introduced, you can now spend less than $700 for something top of the line.

Obviously, the low price of PC laptops makes this an option that most everyone can afford.  Just remember, while laptops on the market today are incredible thanks to technology, purchasing one is still an investment that you need to take seriously.  Once you find a computer that you are interested in buy, take time to research the pros and cons.  Additionally, compatibility is an important issue to understand.  For instance, if you live in the United States but travel overseas, you want to be certain that the laptop of interest offers interchangeable peripherals such as hard drive, PC cards, processor, etc.  With your new PC laptop computer, life will be so much easier, making this an outstanding investment.
